ENH 160: Restoration Ecology – Spring Quarter

How do we repair the damage that humans are doing to our environment?

In this course, we study basic principles from the fields of: physiological, population, community, ecosystem, and landscape ecology. Students will apply these principles to:

1. Defining feasible restoration goals at local to regional scales
2. Designing projects to restore multiple species and ecosystem services
3. Managing ecological systems to promote restoration and minimize further degradation, particularly in a changing environment

This course centers around a class project, where students act as consultants on a local site in need of restoration (see syllabus for full details).

PLS 163: Ecosystem and Landscape Ecology – Winter Quarter

How do we fit all of the pieces together to understand and manage our changing environment?

Integration of ecological concepts to understand and manage ecosystems in a complex and changing world. Emphasis on interactions among biotic, abiotic and human factors and changes over space/time. Local to global controls over water, carbon and nutrients across ecosystems/landscapes.
